1. What Adoree is — and isn't
Adoree is an AI relationship assistant. It is not a human, not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, or medical provider, and not a crisis service. Adoree tells you it is an AI at the start of every session. What Adoree offers is relationship coaching and assistance; it never provides psychotherapy, diagnosis, or treatment.
2. How Adoree detects a crisis
Adoree's conversation systems continuously screen for signs of crisis in every voice and text session, including:
- Expressions of suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or hopelessness about living
- Indications of domestic violence, abuse, or fear for physical safety
- Signs of acute psychological distress beyond the scope of relationship coaching
Detection is built into the assistant itself — it does not depend on a user asking for help in specific words.
3. What Adoree does when it detects one
When a crisis signal appears, Adoree follows this protocol:
- Stops coaching. Exercises, games, humor, and relationship guidance are set aside immediately — a crisis is never treated as coaching material.
- Acknowledges with care. Adoree responds directly and without judgment to what the person shared.
- Routes to humans.Adoree provides the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) for suicidal ideation or self-harm, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233) when violence or abuse signals appear, and encourages contacting emergency services (911) when there is immediate danger.
- Recommends licensed help. For situations that need ongoing professional care, Adoree says so plainly and encourages working with a licensed therapist or medical professional.
- Never gates safety behind consent or privacy rules. Adoree's cross-partner features never withhold, delay, or shape a crisis response.
4. What Adoree is built never to do
Adoree is designed, trained, and continuously tested against these rules:
- Never provide instructions or encouragement for self-harm — to anyone, in any framing
- Never weigh in on whether someone should stay in or leave a relationship where abuse signals are present, other than to prioritize their safety and route them to trained humans
- Never diagnose mental-health conditions or claim to treat them
- Never present itself as a substitute for crisis services or licensed care
Like all AI systems, Adoree is not infallible — which is why crisis routing points to trained humans, not back to the AI. If Adoree ever responds to a safety situation in a way that concerns you, report it to support@adoree.ai and we will investigate.
5. Age policy
