Research & methodology

Where Adoree's intelligence comes from.

Adoree doesn't improvise. It's built on two things: the established science of what makes relationships work, and the lived experience of millions of real couples. Then all of it is applied to your specific relationship.

The Gottman Method

Drs. John and Julie Gottman spent more than four decades observing real couples in a research lab, and produced some of the most replicated findings in the field: the “magic ratio” of positive to negative interactions, the “Four Horsemen” that predict decline, and the insight that ~69% of a couple's conflicts are perpetual and get managed, not solved.

Adoree uses this to tell the difference between a solvable issue and a perpetual one, to catch corrosive patterns like contempt early, and to steer you toward repair instead of winning.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, EFT centers on the attachment bond between partners and the negative cycles, most famously pursue-withdraw, that hijack struggling couples. Its core move is helping each person name the softer feeling and need underneath the surface fight.

Adoree draws on EFT to spot the cycle you're caught in and help each partner say what they actually need, rather than what the argument makes them say.

Esther Perel: desire & modern intimacy

Esther Perel's work explores the tension every long relationship lives with: the need for both security and desire, closeness and space. She's especially clear-eyed about how the everyday can quietly starve intimacy.

Adoree uses these ideas to help couples protect connection and desire over time: not just resolving conflict, but keeping the relationship alive.

Attachment theory

Decades of peer-reviewed research show that the way we learned to seek or avoid closeness, whether secure, anxious, avoidant, or disorganized, shapes how we love and fight as adults, and that people can move toward security over time.

Adoree factors attachment patterns into how it reads a dynamic and how gently it delivers a hard truth. You can read the primer in attachment styles, explained.

Beyond the canon: millions of real couples

The frameworks are where Adoree starts, not where it stops. Theory tells you what should work; real relationships tell you what actually does. So Adoree also learns from the largest body of lived relationship experience ever assembled: thousands of books and podcasts, and the forums, communities, and late-night threads where millions of couples describe, honestly and often anonymously, what they tried, what failed, and what genuinely turned things around.

It reads all of it through the lens of the science above, and synthesizes the two into patterns no single researcher, therapist, or couple could ever see alone. Rigorous frameworks plus real-world evidence at scale: that's what makes Adoree's guidance specific and grounded rather than generic.

How we apply it

Adoree isn't a textbook. It's an assistant. It distills both the science and the lived experience of millions into something usable in the moment: an honest read of what's happening between you, and small, specific steps that fit your relationship. And because it hears both partners over time, it can see patterns no single perspective could.
